Travel Gear Update

Travel Gear Update

After using the same travel gear for a good few years now I’ve decided to update what I take away in my carry on bag.

You can’t really beat the quality and functionality you get from a DSLR.

This Canon 700d came with a EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

I also bought the following lenses

Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 II Lens good for portraits.

Canon EF S 10 18mm f/4.5 5.6 IS STM Lens that has Ultra Wide Angle, great for landscape.

Camera Bag

I also got a lightweight case for some protection of my camera.

Along with a plain black neoprene strap so as not to advertise the fact that I have a decent camera.

I replaced the standard Canon battery charger with one that could use USB to charge.

This is a lightweight in-expensive tripod that packs up nice and small.

LCD Timer Shutter Release Remote Control Cord

This is great for reducing camera shake and also experimenting with time lapse photography.

It’s not really worth the risk of taking your high value phone with you, It’s too easy to lose, break or be stolen.

This is my backup phone that replaces me having to lug a netbook around (for internet access and music)

It’s not locked to a network which is important if you’re going to use sims from different countries. It would be handy if it had two sim card slots but I’ll just have to swap them over.

I’ve put all my music on it along with a few apps like Google translate, Currency Converter and airline apps.

It has an ok camera for quick snaps as well.

Bluetooth Speaker

Music is most important to me and this speaker links via Bluetooth to my phone. It has great sound quality, battery life, is lightweight and charges via USB.

I use these headphones with my phone, the only annoying thing is that most airlines have stupid connections so you can’t use them on the plane.

Travel Adaptor

I’ve just updated to this adaptor as it has two USB ports so I can charge everything.

This is a great lightweight LED torch that lasts for ages.

All this fits nicely into my carry on luggage and I no longer have to keep taking my netbook out when going through security.
